“Hey Anne” Green Smoothie

Life aboard our boat “The Ocho” in the Florida Keys means creating healthy meals that are delicious and easy. This smoothie is a staple at our “dirt home” so having my handy, dandy Ninja aboard means I don’t have to forgo the breakfast that my hubby and I prefer – a HUGE, CREAMY delicious smoothie.

This smoothie is named after friends we met in Marathon, FL. Andrew and Anne were aboard their boat in the same marina. I made Anne a smoothie for breakfast one morning. She and Andrew LOVED it and started incorporating it into their morning regimen as well. I later learned that Andrew recorded himself asking, “Hey Anne! You make my green smoothie yet?” and would text that to his beloved Anne every morning. I can’t help chortle every time I think of it and I’m always reminded of them when I make the smoothie myself. Hence, it seems fitting to name the smoothie the “Hey Anne”.

This go-to smoothie packs in heaping amounts of the daily values recommended for vitamin A (71%), vitamin C (119%), calcium (72%), iron 50%, 20 g of fiber, and 17 g of protein! WOW! Give it a try. It is really delicious and easy. Plus, you can say that you ate a half-pound of spinach first thing in the morning!

Imagine, ½ lb of spinach for breakfast! Leafy greens for the day CHECK! If you are making this smoothie for one, simply half the ingredients!

2 cups Almond milk
2 cups Frozen blueberries
1 lb Frozen spinach
2 tbsp Flaxseed meal
3 tbsp Cacao nibs
4 tbsp PB2 powder
1 Banana

Method

1. Almond milk, blueberries, spinach, flaxseed meal, cacao nibs, PB2 powder, banana

2. Ninja Blender

Add all ingredients to the blender cannister in the order listed.


Select the smoothie option on your blender. If your blender does not have a smoothie option, pulse the blender until most ingredients have been incorporated.

Blend for 2 minutes until creamy. Enjoy but use a BIG straw! This is a thick, creamy smoothie with crunchy chocolate “chips”!
